Hi! my name is Cynthia Frenette and I’m a graphic designer, artist, fabric designer, quilter, knitter, painter, crocheter and blogger! I live in Mission, BC Canada, with my fabulous husband Norm and our dog and cat.
Artist Statement: Cynthia Frenette
All my life I have had a love of fabric and sewing, art, painting, drawing, crafting and creating. My work brings together a few of my favorite things- fabric, paint, art, and stitching- into a unique and textural blend of fun and whimsy.
I’ve always been told people can “see the spirit” in my work. I really love creating and being in my “happy place”, and making people smile when they see my work. I’m evolving this technique of stitching and painting as I go, adding more elements, embellishments, and sparkle and trying new techniques of freemotion stitching and quilting.
By trade I am a graphic designer and Illustrator and own my own company with my husband, Green Couch Designs, where we infuse our “work work” with the same friendly flavour as my artwork. I’ve been working on fabric design and selling my work on Spoonflower.com and soon thru Robert Kaufman Fabrics!
I’ve been in several shows with the Tart Gallery in Vancouver, and shown and sold my work at various venues in the city as part of group shows. I’ve also won a few awards including 2nd Place in the Art/Wall hangings category at the 2011 West Coast Quilt & Fiber Art Challenge at the Sewing and Craft show at Tradex.
